This year Mibrasa proudly sponsored the Empordanet team, who participated in the 5th edition of the Oncotrail in Girona, a solidarity race organised by Oncolliga Girona Foundation, together with “Parafrugell’s Excursionist Group” and “Club Atlético Palafrugell”.

Teams have a maximum of 30 hours to complete a circular route covering a distance of 100km. Starting in Catalonia’s Costa Brava town of Palafrugell, the trail follows the coast weaving through medieval towns and woodlands in the Empordà region. 

Having been established only a few years ago, the run has already been consolidated as one of the most highly participated sporting events in the region, involving 1,558 participants from 196 teams, and raising a record €232,000.

Oncolliga Foundation works to improve the living conditions for cancer patients and their families during their hospital stays across the Girona province while the battle continues to discover new treatments to beat the disease. Raising cancer awareness is an on-going cause, of which the Oncolliga foundation is dedicated to supporting.
